in what did it affect you and what way did new york surprise you? >> well, being here in the middle of new york city when sandy hit, like for everyone, it was a different and strange time, but what i got to see was the resiliency and the will of the people of this area to stand up and love each other, to help each other, to rebuild -- this city is a great city. this area is strong.
